Mainframe Developer

Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Mainframe Developer to join our dynamic team.

What you will work on:

• Develop, modify, and maintain COBOL-based applications on IBM mainframe platforms.
• Design and implement solutions using DL/I and DB2 databases for efficient data storage and retrieval.
• Integrate applications with MQ (Message Queue) for effective communication between different components.
• Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather and translate requirements into technical specifications.
• Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in existing mainframe applications, ensuring optimal performance and functionality.
• Perform unit testing and collaborate with quality assurance teams to ensure high-quality software delivery.
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure code quality and best practices.
• Maintain documentation of code, technical specifications, and system configurations.
• Keep abreast of industry trends and advancements in mainframe technology to propose innovative solutions.
• Ensure compliance with coding standards, security protocols, and data privacy regulations.

What you bring:

• Proficiency in COBOL programming language, with a strong understanding of mainframe development.
• Experience working with DL/I for hierarchical databases and DB2 for relational databases.
• Familiarity with Message Queue (MQ) technology for asynchronous communication.
• Hands-on experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining applications on IBM mainframe computers.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
• Solid understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and best practices.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
• Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to producing high-quality code and deliverables.
• Effective communication skills to interact with business stakeholders and technical teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
