Job Description

Assignment Description:

We are looking for a Backend Engineer to join a team responsible for core backend systems used by millions of users daily.
In this role, you will help develop and improve high-performance, scalable backend services in a cloud environment, working with databases, data pipelines, and distributed systems. You will take operational responsibility for the services you develop, ensuring robustness, reliability, and optimal performance.

What you will work on:

  • Design, develop, and maintain distributed backend services and databases at scale
  • Build robust, high-performance, and scalable Java-based services
  • Analyze bottlenecks and optimize API usage to improve performance and reliability
  • Enable new features and improve user experience by collaborating in a cross-functional team
  • Manage the full lifecycle of services in a cloud environment (GCP preferred)
  • Diagnose and resolve performance issues in complex distributed architectures
  • Utilize AI tools and modern development practices to improve coding efficiency and quality

What you bring:

  • Strong experience in backend development, designing distributed systems, and working with databases at scale
  • Expertise in Java; experience with Scala is a strong plus
  • Hands-on experience with modern cloud infrastructure and tools, preferably GCP
  • Deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems
  • Experience diagnosing and optimizing performance in complex backend architectures
  • Comfortable taking ownership of services and delivering independently
  • Forward-thinking mindset with knowledge of AI-assisted coding tools
