Assignment Description:
We are looking for a Senior Project Design Manager to join our dynamic team.
What you will work on:
- Accountable for adherence to schedule, budget, and delivery quality planning of architectural and engineering design activities during Basic Design (BD) and Detailed Design (DD) phases, with possible inclusion of Concept Design (CD).
- Act as a key member of the project management team, reporting to the Project Manager (PM) and collaborating with the Project Technical Manager (PTM), IT Manager (ITM), and Construction Manager (CM) to establish integrated schedules and budgets.
- Oversee regulatory, planning, and permitting management, architecture, exterior envelope, interior design (non-GxP areas), utility infrastructure, civils & structural works, landscaping, stormwater, drainage, and sewerage systems.
- Ensure compliance with Fire & Life systems and security systems, including fire compartmentalization, escape routes, gatehouse placement, and fencing.
- Coordinate BIM documentation standards and liaise with local Site Operations teams.
- Support the Project Manager in the selection of design firms (A/E) and coordinate SME resources for design review and acceptance tasks.
- Assist in procurement processes by providing technical specifications, design clarifications, and requirements.
- Work closely with PTM to ensure design solutions align with customer needs, business objectives, and GxP document management.
- Manage design contractors to achieve project design objectives in compliance with policies, guidelines, and User Requirements Specification.
- Lead value engineering, alternative option reviews, and constructability assessments, including start-up and commissioning sequencing during design phases.
- Own and manage design deliverables, ensuring quality and pace meet project-approved budgets and schedules.
- Oversee permitting approval strategies and ensure all design deliverables meet legislative requirements.
- Manage project change requests related to design, including impact assessments on SHE, cost, schedule, reputation, and resources.
- Respond to Requests for Information during construction, ensuring alignment with project scope and quality standards.
- Transfer project information, including as-built drawings, turnover packs, O&M manuals, and BIM models to Site Operations.
- Define technical governance and delivery organization in collaboration with PTM and PM.
- Ensure adherence to Design Assurance processes and documentation best practices.
- Participate in meetings and reviews with design and construction teams, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Document design decisions, philosophies, and lessons learned from past projects.
What you bring:
- Proven experience in managing architectural and engineering design activities across multiple project phases.
- Strong understanding of regulatory, permitting, and compliance processes.
- Experience in managing design contractors, value engineering, and constructability reviews.
- Knowledge of GxP document management and quality assurance processes.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to oversee BIM documentation and coordinate with Site Operations teams.
- Experience in project change management, including impact assessments and approvals.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in maintaining project audit-ready documentation.
- Ability to apply best practices and lessons learned from previous projects.
- Fluency in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
