Assignment Description:
We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our dynamic team.
What you will work on:
- Own and maintain BigQuery data models and Dataform transformations, including partitioning/cluster strategies, incremental models, materialized views, snapshots, and tests
- Improve and operate end-to-end data pipelines on GCP with strong observability, monitoring, alerts, and cost dashboards
- Design clean data marts (star schemas, conformed dimensions) for self-service analytics and Power BI
- Optimize SQL quality and performance: enforce partition predicates, review query plans, reduce bytes scanned, and tune costs (reservations, BI Engine, materializations)
- Build robust Power BI models and dashboards, including semantic layers, incremental refresh, and coach analysts on best practices
- Develop schema-aware SQL templates, maintain a metric catalog, implement RLS/allowlisted views, and manage evaluation harnesses for safe report generation
- Document models, lineage, and decisions clearly through readmes, diagrams, and playbooks
What you bring:
- SQL expertise, ideally in BigQuery: window functions, partitioning/clustering, table decorators, EXPLAIN, maximum_bytes_billed, materialized views
- Strong dimensional data modeling skills: facts/dimensions, SCDs/snapshots, grain discipline, data mart design
- Experience with dbt or Dataform on BigQuery: incremental models, tests, exposures, and documentation
- Power BI skills: semantic modeling, DAX, relationships, incremental refresh, RLS, and strong dashboarding sense
- Python experience for ELT/operations (Cloud Run/Functions, orchestration glue, dbt/CLI automation)
- Familiarity with GCP data services: BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, and basics of Composer/Airflow
- Kubernetes experience: design and implement infrastructure, including pods, containers, and Docker images to support data science models
- Focus on data quality and reliability: freshness, completeness, referential/accepted values, alerting, and runbooks
