Assignment Overview
We are seeking an experienced Interim Engineering Manager
What You Will Work On
People & Culture Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop engineering team members to achieve defined goals
- Drive recruitment, performance management, and employee well-being
- Establish and strengthen a positive, value-driven team culture
- Promote continuous improvement and effective ways of working
- Ensure a safe, compliant, and sustainable work environment
Delivery & Business Outcomes
- Ensure teams deliver according to commitments through active follow-up and risk management
- Align engineering work clearly with business objectives and measurable outcomes
- Drive agile, iterative development enabling continuous business value delivery
- Ensure adherence to SDLC across the full product lifecycle (discovery, delivery, operations)
- Safeguard product quality, technical efficiency, and operational stability
- Oversee incident handling, security, upgrades, performance optimization, and scalability
- Manage technical debt, decommissioning plans, and documentation standards
Technical Excellence & Collaboration
- Provide technical guidance and coaching throughout the development lifecycle
- Ensure the right technical competence within teams through skills development
- Identify and manage dependencies across the technical ecosystem
- Optimize processes to balance delivery speed with engineering quality
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers, other Engineering Managers, and key stakeholders
- Establish clarity around mandates, priorities, and execution even in ambiguous situations
Budget & Resource Management
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation
- Ensure cost awareness and cost-efficient solution delivery
- Understand key financial drivers within technology operations
What You Bring
- Academic degree from university or equivalent higher education
- Fluency in Swedish and English, both written and spoken
- 4–8 years of broad and/or deep professional experience in a relevant role
- Proven people management experience leading development teams
- Hands-on leadership experience within modern software development environments
- Strong understanding of cloud-based environments (e.g., AWS) and DevOps principles
- Experience working with agile methodologies
- Experience leading distributed teams
- Experience from financial services or other regulated industries
- Experience managing multiple teams simultaneously
- Experience with budget and cost responsibility in larger organizations
- Experience driving transformation initiatives or organizational change
- Strong leadership presence with excellent communication skills
- Structured and results-oriented mindset
- Ability to create engagement, ownership, and accountability in teams
- Decisive and action-oriented, even in complex environments
- Strategic perspective combined with operational pragmatism
Assignment Details
- Scope: Full-time (100%)
- Location: Skåne, primarily Malmö
- Work Model: Hybrid (approximately 60% onsite)
- Responsibility: Lead three teams (one in Stockholm, two in Malmö)
