Assignment Description:
We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our dynamic team.
What you will work on:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement a platform that supports infrastructure as code across the organization.
- Develop and maintain Kubernetes operators (typically in Golang) and backend services (in Java) to enhance platform capabilities.
- Create utilities and scripts in Python and Bash, and build analytics data pipelines using Python and SQL.
- Manage declaratively structured infrastructure with YAML to ensure efficient operations.
- Partner closely with sister platform squads to align objectives and best practices, contributing to an autonomous team environment.
- Foster an inclusive culture that encourages individual growth and allows team members to bring their whole selves to work.
What you bring:
- Proven experience as a team player within an autonomous, cross-functional team, with expertise in designing, analyzing, optimizing code, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
- Proficiency in Kubernetes, GKE, and Google Cloud Platform, with hands-on experience in deploying and operating services on Linux.
- Strong passion for infrastructure as code, with the ability to leverage scripting languages for effective integration of various components.
- Experience in developing distributed, high-performance services, with a solid command of Java and/or Go.
- A systematic problem-solving approach combined with effective communication skills and a strong drive for continuous improvement.
- Enthusiasm for working in an environment that emphasizes learning, experimentation, and rapid iteration.
Meritorious:
- A strong engineering background, preferably with an MSc in engineering or a related field.
- Experience in extending Kubernetes, including writing or maintaining Kubernetes operators and Custom Resource Definitions (CRDs).
- Previous experience within platform organizations is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is a plus.
