Assignment Description:
We are looking for a Senior COBOL Specialist in Insurance and Mainframe Systems to join our dynamic team.
What you will work on:
- Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot COBOL applications, particularly within IBM Mainframe systems.
- Create and manage batch jobs using JCL (Job Control Language).
- Work with DB2 and IMS for database management and optimization of SQL queries for COBOL applications.
- Design and manage CICS online transaction systems.
- Utilize tools such as TSO/ISPF, Endevor, and debugging tools to manage code and troubleshoot issues.
- Participate in system modernization projects, upgrading or integrating legacy systems with modern technologies.
- Generate complex financial and operational reports within COBOL systems.
- Contribute to the long-term maintenance and management of mainframe systems.
- Work within the insurance domain, applying industry knowledge to ensure solutions meet business needs.
What you bring:
- Solid experience in developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting COBOL applications, especially in IBM Mainframe environments.
- Proficiency in JCL for managing batch jobs.
- Strong experience with DB2 and IMS, with expertise in optimizing SQL queries for COBOL applications.
- Skills in developing and managing CICS online transaction systems.
- Familiarity with tools such as TSO/ISPF, Endevor, and debugging tools for effective code management and issue resolution.
- In-depth insurance domain knowledge, particularly in life and property insurance.
- Understanding of industry regulations such as Solvency II and GDPR.
- Experience in working with both agile and waterfall methodologies.
- Knowledge of system integration and connecting COBOL systems to modern platforms and applications.
- Experience in system modernization projects, including the upgrade or integration of legacy systems.
- Proficient in report generation within COBOL systems, specifically for complex financial and operational reports.
- Fluent in English and Swedish.
