We are looking for a Senior AC Protection and Control Engineer – HVDC Systems to join our dynamic team.
What you will work on:
Act as AC Protection and Control Lead Engineer for the AC part of HVDC stations, with responsibility across tender and execution phases
Translate customer specifications and protection schemes into conceptual designs and clear sub-supplier requirements
Evaluate sub-supplier quotations and oversee design and manufacturing processes
Lead design teams while engaging with customers, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure project alignment
Review detailed protection panel designs and verify interface compatibility
Ensure alignment between functional requirements, panel design, relay configuration, and settings prior to FAT
Review supplier test programs and supervise Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
Provide remote support during installation and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)
Collaborate with the Electrical Design, AC Protection and Control team within the HVDC automation group, covering protection and control systems, SCADA/HMI, IT/OT infrastructure, cyber security, and telecom systems
What you bring:
10+ years of experience in protection and control systems for MV/HV AC substations
Strong expertise in relay protection schemes, including protection, control, measurement, and supervision functionalities
Familiarity with protective relays from manufacturers
Hands-on experience in protection and control panel design and application of industry best practices
Knowledge of power system studies, grid codes, and protection coordination
Ability to interpret technical specifications and manage sub-suppliers effectively
Familiarity with the UK energy market and customers such as NG and SSE is an advantage
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
Proficiency in English, both written and spoken
Flexibility to work in a hybrid setup, with candidates considered from Ludvika and Gothenburg
