Job Overview
Role Summary
An experienced AI & Automation Engineer is needed for a consulting assignment focused on modernizing Data Center and Infrastructure operations. The mission is to reduce manual operational work and evolve toward an SRE/PRE/MIRE operating model built on automation, observability, self-service, proactive operations, and measurable reliability.
The role spans enterprise compute, virtualization, hyperconverged infrastructure, storage, backup and disaster recovery, Windows/Linux platforms, identity, networking, security, containers, and hybrid cloud. You will create production-grade automation and AI-native capabilities that improve infrastructure lifecycle management, operational resilience, and controlled remediation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, and maintain reusable automation and self-service workflows for provisioning, patching, backup and recovery, access management, configuration, and infrastructure lifecycle operations.
- Develop automation with robust testing, rollback procedures, approval controls, auditability, and secure handling of privileged or high-risk actions.
- Implement AI-enabled infrastructure use cases, including incident triage, root-cause analysis, capacity forecasting, change-risk assessment, and controlled self-healing.
- Build and operationalize Generative AI solutions using LLMs/SLMs, agents, tool calling, retrieval-augmented generation, and LLMOps/GenAIOps practices.
- Use AIOps and observability capabilities to correlate telemetry, detect anomalies, predict operational risks, and automate remediation.
- Measure and improve service reliability through SLI/SLOs, error budgets, availability, MTTR, MTTD, change-failure rate, and toil-reduction metrics.
- Integrate ServiceNow ITSM/ITOM and CMDB capabilities with infrastructure, monitoring, security, and automation platforms to support end-to-end operational workflows.
- Collaborate across Infrastructure, Cloud, Network, Security, Service Management, and Architecture teams.
Technical Stack & Requirements
- Automation and Infrastructure as Code: Ansible Automation Platform, Python, PowerShell, Bash, Terraform/OpenTofu, REST APIs, JSON, YAML, Git, GitOps, and CI/CD.
- AI and intelligent automation: Generative AI, LLMs/SLMs, Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio, Azure OpenAI, Microsoft Foundry, RAG/Agentic RAG, vector search, agents, MCP/A2A, tool calling, LLMOps, and GenAIOps.
- Infrastructure platforms: Windows Server, Linux/Unix, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, Hyper-V, Azure Local, Azure Stack HCI, and other HCI platforms.
- Storage and resilience: SAN/NAS, enterprise storage, replication, backup and recovery platforms, Cohesity, and disaster recovery.
- Cloud and platform engineering: Azure, Azure Arc, Azure Monitor, Azure DevOps, containers, Kubernetes, and hybrid-cloud environments.
- Operations tooling: ServiceNow, CMDB, ITOM, monitoring/NMS platforms, SIEM/SOAR, OpenTelemetry, telemetry analysis, event correlation, anomaly detection, and predictive analytics.
- Security approach: Zero Trust, least-privilege access, RBAC, secure identities, policy-as-code, security-as-code, and controlled approval workflows.
Qualifications & Experience
You have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. The assignment requires 10+ years of experience in Data Center, Infrastructure, Cloud, Virtualization, or Automation Engineering, including hands-on work in enterprise infrastructure operations.
Strong production experience with Ansible, scripting, API-based automation, and VMware and/or Hyper-V is required. You should also have practical experience with AI, Copilot, AIOps, or intelligent automation in enterprise environments. Relevant certifications in Microsoft Azure, Azure Local, Windows Server, Linux, VMware VCP, Red Hat/Ansible Automation, Cohesity or equivalent data protection, Terraform, Microsoft AI/Copilot/Foundry, ITIL, or ServiceNow are advantageous.
