Role Summary
An experienced Database Administrator is needed for a consulting assignment in the financial sector. The role is responsible for the operation, monitoring, maintenance, and continuous development of database platforms in a technically complex environment where mainframe and modern platforms coexist.
You will work as part of a cross-functional development team in close collaboration with developers, architects, application teams, and other stakeholders. The assignment focuses on ensuring the availability, performance, security, stability, and modernization of IBM Db2 for z/OS and PostgreSQL environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, maintain, and further develop Db2 for z/OS and PostgreSQL database environments.
- Review and optimize SQL used in application database calls and batch workflows.
- Perform performance analysis and optimization to improve database efficiency, capacity, stability, and availability.
- Provide technical guidance and database expertise to development and application teams.
- Develop, test, improve, and maintain procedures for backup, recovery, restore, and disaster recovery.
- Plan and execute database upgrades, migrations, and other technical improvements.
- Document database architecture, technical solutions, operating procedures, and system environments.
- Contribute to the ongoing modernization of the database platform.
Technical Stack & Requirements
- Advanced SQL skills, including query analysis and optimization.
- Several years of experience with IBM Db2 for z/OS.
- Hands-on experience with Db2 utilities including REORG, RUNSTATS, COPY, and RECOVER.
- Experience administering PostgreSQL in a Linux environment.
- Strong expertise in database performance analysis and performance tuning.
- Experience with backup, restore, recovery, and disaster recovery processes.
- Experience documenting technical solutions, operational routines, and system environments.
- Meriting experience with PostgreSQL high availability, streaming replication, logical replication, pgBackRest, and pgAdmin.
- Meriting experience with Db2 Data Sharing, JCL, TSO/ISPF, RACF, and security administration in z/OS environments.
Qualifications & Experience
The ideal candidate is an experienced Database Administrator with a strong background in enterprise database operations across both mainframe and Linux-based environments. You should be comfortable working independently while collaborating effectively in cross-functional technical teams. Very strong Swedish communication skills are required, along with the ability to work confidently in complex technical environments.
