Role Summary
An experienced Senior Linux Team Lead is required for a consulting assignment within embedded systems. The role is part of an engineering department of approximately 17 professionals working across operating system development, software testing, and DevOps. The Linux platform team is responsible for delivering software platforms and core operating system functionality used across multiple products and development projects.
This position combines technical leadership with hands-on software engineering. The consultant will lead and coordinate team deliveries for both new product development initiatives and the lifecycle management and maintenance of released products.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the Linux platform team's deliveries to new product-development projects and released-product maintenance activities.
- Take primary responsibility for leading a larger engineering group and supporting its formation and development.
- Balance operational execution with strategic planning to ensure high-quality delivery.
- Provide hands-on engineering contribution within the embedded Linux and operating system environment.
- Collaborate effectively with engineers and management stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement through modern software-development methods and practices.
Technical Stack & Requirements
- Strong experience with Linux platform and operating system development.
- Hands-on background in Embedded Systems software engineering.
- Experience working in environments covering software testing and DevOps.
- Ability to deliver reusable software platforms and core operating system functionality supporting multiple products and development projects.
Qualifications & Experience
The ideal consultant combines strong technical leadership with a hands-on engineering mindset. Experience participating in large-scale projects and completing assignments or projects to a high standard is required. The role calls for demonstrated capability to lead larger groups, develop teams, structure delivery work, and communicate effectively with both engineering teams and management. A delivery-focused, pragmatic, collaborative, and solution-oriented approach is important.
