Principal Cloud Engineer – AWS Developer Platform - 20190

Assignment Description

We are looking for a highly experienced Cloud Engineer to build, operate, and improve secure, enterprise-scale AWS environments supporting internal development teams.

You will be part of a collaborative Cloud Engineering team, focusing on cloud infrastructure, automation, governance, reliability, and cost efficiency. The role requires strong technical ownership, problem-solving skills, and a continuous improvement mindset to provide secure and efficient cloud platforms.

What You Will Work On

• Design, implement, and operate enterprise-scale AWS environments.
• Develop automation and infrastructure solutions using Python, Bash, and TypeScript.
• Build and maintain serverless solutions using AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, and EventBridge.
• Implement infrastructure as code using AWS CloudFormation and CDK.
• Manage IAM, SSO, identity governance, and access controls.
• Maintain large AWS Organizations using Control Tower, StackSets, and Service Control Policies (SCPs).
• Establish governance, guardrails, and standardised machine images (golden AMIs).
• Improve CI/CD pipelines, cloud automation, infrastructure reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Troubleshoot complex issues, identify root causes, and implement long-term solutions.
• Collaborate with developers and engineering teams to improve cloud platform capabilities.

What You Bring

• At least 10 years of experience designing and implementing AWS infrastructure.
• Strong programming and scripting skills in Python, Bash, and TypeScript.
• Extensive experience with AWS serverless technologies, including Lambda, DynamoDB, and EventBridge.
• Strong knowledge of AWS CloudFormation and CDK.
• Deep understanding of IAM, SSO, and enterprise identity and governance models.
• Experience managing large AWS Organizations, including Control Tower, StackSets, and SCPs.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and cloud automation.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
• Ability to collaborate effectively and take ownership of technical deliveries.

Meritorious

• AWS certifications.
• Experience with AI-assisted software development tools and methods.
• Experience with micro-component solution architectures in cloud environments.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools such as Jira, Kanban, or SAFe.
• Personal cloud or software development projects.
