Job Overview
Role Summary
An experienced Senior Software Engineer is needed for a full-time consulting assignment within a team developing a patient-facing digital healthcare solution. The team is responsible for a mobile and web frontend application, a Node.js backend-for-frontend (BFF) layer, and a configuration layer. The assignment forms part of a broader programme that includes a web portal, mobile applications, medical-device integrations, content management, application configuration, and multiple external integrations.
The role combines hands-on frontend and backend-for-frontend development with technical mentorship, cross-functional feature refinement, quality assurance, and support for incident investigation and defect resolution. The team works in an Agile delivery environment and is expected to actively adopt responsible AI-assisted engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop new functionality for a patient-facing web application across mobile and web experiences.
- Build and maintain functionality in the Node.js backend-for-frontend and application configuration layers.
- Collaborate with Business Analysts, Product Owners, and stakeholders to refine, elaborate, and deliver features.
- Mentor and support other developers within the team.
- Participate in Scrum ceremonies and Programme Increment planning.
- Support testing and incident-management teams by investigating issues and implementing bug fixes.
- Apply test-driven development practices and maintain a high standard of automated test coverage.
- Integrate AI coding assistants, agentic workflows, and automated code-review capabilities into daily engineering practices where appropriate.
- Review, test, and take full accountability for AI-generated code with the same rigor applied to manually written code.
- Identify practical opportunities to improve team delivery through advances in AI-assisted software engineering.
Technical Stack & Requirements
- Strong frontend development experience in large-scale projects.
- TypeScript and React Native for mobile and web application development.
- Node.js for backend-for-frontend and configuration-layer development.
- GraphQL for API integration and data access.
- Git-based version control.
- Unit testing, including Jest, and test-driven development.
- Knowledge of modern frontend frameworks, development practices, and automated code-quality processes.
- Desirable experience with CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps.
- Desirable experience with web and mobile accessibility, design-system implementation, and collaboration with design teams through Figma.
- Additional value is placed on native iOS or Android development, Java backend development, and production deployment of AI/ML features.
Qualifications & Experience
More than five years of professional software development experience is required, including frontend development in larger delivery environments. Candidates should be comfortable working independently when needed while contributing effectively to a collaborative Agile team. Experience with regulated software development processes, GxP, Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) validation, or comparable quality-controlled development environments is advantageous. Fluent English is required.
