Job Overview
Role Summary
An experienced System Engineer with senior full-stack expertise and a strong backend focus is needed for a consulting assignment within the campaign and pricing domain. The assignment involves close collaboration with business stakeholders during a major system replacement initiative. You will play an important role in shaping the target solution, influencing technical decisions, and ensuring that the overall system landscape works effectively.
The team combines established software engineering practices with modern development approaches, including the use of AI-assisted tools to support solution development, decision-making, and business innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance frontend and backend solutions for campaign and pricing-related capabilities.
- Design, implement, test, troubleshoot, and deploy integrations and distributed flows between systems.
- Take technical ownership from requirements analysis through implementation, validation, and production deployment.
- Map and implement integration specifications and investigate technical issues in complex solution landscapes.
- Contribute to architecture, technical direction, and sustainable solution choices during the system replacement.
- Collaborate closely with business stakeholders and cross-functional team members to translate business needs into reliable technical solutions.
- Improve team ways of working, development-tool usage, quality practices, knowledge sharing, and technical structure.
- Provide coaching and technical guidance to other developers when needed.
Technical Stack & Requirements
- Senior-level backend development experience, combined with the ability to work across the full technology stack.
- Documented experience in integration development.
- Experience with Kafka, or equivalent technology, for event-driven and distributed system flows.
- Practical capability across software implementation, testing, troubleshooting, and technical analysis.
- Interest in or experience using AI-assisted development tools and modern engineering workflows.
- Experience with AI development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or equivalent tools is advantageous.
- Experience with agent-based development approaches, reusable skills, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) is advantageous.
Qualifications & Experience
The ideal candidate has several years of senior backend development experience, frontend development exposure, and proven ability to deliver across the full stack. You should be able to quickly understand complex technical solutions and business requirements, take ownership of technical deliveries, and contribute to sound architectural decisions.
Retail domain knowledge, particularly within campaign management, pricing, or price optimisation, is advantageous. Experience of large-scale system replacements, modernisation of business-critical solutions, developer coaching, and contributing to a team's technical direction is also beneficial.
