Role Summary
An experienced Technical Project Manager is sought for upcoming consulting assignments within the banking and financial services sector. The role involves leading and delivering complex IT initiatives, with a particular focus on IT infrastructure, Microsoft Azure, DevOps, and data platforms. Assignments may include establishing a Key Management System (KMS) and managing infrastructure migration initiatives to Azure.
The successful consultant will combine strong technical understanding with hands-on project leadership, creating momentum in complex delivery environments and communicating effectively with both technical teams and executive stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and drive complex technical IT projects within banking and financial services environments.
- Plan, coordinate, and govern project activities using established project models with clear decision gates.
- Manage initiatives involving IT infrastructure, cloud platforms, DevOps practices, and data platforms.
- Coordinate technical teams, stakeholders, management, and steering committees throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support the establishment or implementation of Key Management Systems (KMS).
- Lead or coordinate infrastructure migration projects to Microsoft Azure.
- Provide structured project reporting, status updates, and decision support to management and steering groups.
- Rapidly assess new projects and technical environments to establish effective delivery plans and priorities.
Technical Stack & Requirements
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure and complex technical environments.
- Practical experience with Microsoft Azure and cloud platforms.
- Knowledge of DevOps principles and practices.
- Experience working with data platforms.
- Experience with Key Management Systems (KMS) is advantageous.
- Experience of Azure-focused infrastructure migration initiatives is advantageous.
- Familiarity with security-critical IT environments is beneficial.
- Experience applying established project management methodologies with defined decision points.
Qualifications & Experience
Extensive technical project management experience in the banking and financial services sector is required. Candidates should have previous experience in a technical role, such as Developer, IT Architect, or an equivalent position, providing the technical depth needed to lead complex infrastructure and cloud initiatives. A strong academic background is expected, preferably a Master of Science in Engineering or equivalent. The role requires the ability to engage stakeholders at both operational and strategic levels, deliver clear management and steering-committee communications, and create engagement and progress across technical delivery teams.
