Role Summary
An experienced Backend Developer/Solution Architect is needed for a consulting assignment in a modern digital environment. The role combines hands-on backend development with solution architecture, focusing on designing and building backend services and integrations for business-critical processes. You will translate business needs into pragmatic technical solutions and contribute throughout the full lifecycle, from technical design and architectural decisions to implementation and production operations.
You will work closely with both developers and business stakeholders and help shape a technical landscape where new solutions, backend architectures, and integrations are being built and continuously evolved.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services and system integrations.
- Define solution architecture, service boundaries, APIs, and integration patterns.
- Translate business requirements into practical, maintainable technical solutions.
- Contribute hands-on throughout design, implementation, deployment, troubleshooting, and operational support.
- Design and implement microservices, messaging solutions, and event-driven architectures.
- Support production systems through troubleshooting, incident resolution, and operational improvements.
- Collaborate closely with developers and business stakeholders on technical decisions.
- Coach and support other developers while promoting pragmatic engineering practices and avoiding unnecessary complexity.
Technical Stack & Requirements
- Strong professional experience with Java, Kotlin, or comparable backend technologies.
- Extensive backend development experience, including API development and system integrations.
- Strong understanding of microservices, messaging, and event-driven architecture.
- Experience with system design, service decomposition, service boundaries, and integration design.
- Practical experience with CI/CD, cloud environments, and DevOps practices.
- Experience operating, monitoring, and troubleshooting production systems.
- Experience with Kotlin and Spring is advantageous.
Qualifications & Experience
The ideal consultant is a senior, hands-on developer with a strong architectural perspective. This is not a role for a purely theoretical architect; the successful candidate should be comfortable taking solutions from initial design through implementation and production operation. The role requires the ability to collaborate closely with business stakeholders, understand operational needs, and make pragmatic technical decisions.
