Role Summary
An experienced Database Administrator is needed for a consulting assignment in the financial sector. The role is responsible for the operation and continued development of database platforms in an environment where mainframe technology and modern platforms coexist. You will join a cross-functional development team and work closely with developers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure high availability, performance, security, and stability across the database landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, maintain, and enhance database environments based on IBM Db2 for z/OS and PostgreSQL.
- Review SQL used in application database calls and batch flows, providing technical guidance to development and application teams.
- Perform ongoing database performance analysis and tuning to improve efficiency, stability, and response times.
- Develop, test, document, and continuously improve procedures for backup, restore, and disaster recovery.
- Plan and execute database upgrades, migrations, and other technical platform improvements.
- Document database architecture, technical solutions, operational procedures, and system environments.
- Contribute to the modernization and long-term development of the database platform.
Technical Stack & Requirements
- Strong SQL expertise, including query analysis and optimization.
- Several years of experience with IBM Db2 for z/OS, including utilities such as REORG, RUNSTATS, COPY, and RECOVER.
- Experience administering PostgreSQL in a Linux environment.
- Strong capability in database performance analysis and performance optimization.
- Experience with backup, recovery, restore, and disaster recovery processes.
- Advantageous experience with PostgreSQL high availability, streaming replication, logical replication, pgBackRest, and pgAdmin.
- Advantageous mainframe experience with Db2 Data Sharing, JCL, TSO/ISPF, RACF, and security administration.
Qualifications & Experience
The ideal consultant has several years of database administration experience in technically complex environments, with deep expertise in Db2 for z/OS and practical PostgreSQL administration experience. You should be comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with technical teams, and have experience producing clear technical documentation for solutions, operational routines, and system environments. Very strong Swedish communication skills are required.
