Interim Cyber Defence Manager - 19873

Role Summary

An experienced Interim Cyber Defence Manager is required to provide operational leadership and ensure continuity across cyber defence and security operations. The assignment focuses on leading security operations activities, strengthening incident response capabilities, improving security monitoring and detection coverage, and ensuring effective follow-up of cyber threats, vulnerabilities, risks and security improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate Security Operations Center (SOC) activities and operational cyber defence initiatives.
• Drive incident management and threat follow-up across the security operations function.
• Lead P1 and major security incidents, including outside normal office hours when required.
• Provide operational security guidance and support to technical teams.
• Coordinate incident response, security actions and improvement activities with internal stakeholders and external service providers.
• Act as a subject matter expert for operational security matters and cyber defence processes.
• Ensure timely follow-up of security incidents, threats, vulnerabilities, risks and remediation actions.
• Improve Mean Time to Respond/Recover (MTTR) and strengthen the effectiveness of security operations.
• Increase security monitoring and detection coverage.

Qualifications & Experience

Demonstrated experience leading and coordinating security operations is required. The successful consultant will have strong practical experience in cyber incident management, threat follow-up, operational security support, and the management of high-priority security incidents. Experience coordinating technical teams and external service providers, driving remediation activities, and delivering measurable improvements to security monitoring and response performance is essential.
