Role Summary
An experienced Mechanical Design Engineer is required for a consulting assignment within advanced engineering and concept vehicle development. The assignment focuses on early-phase development and concept work for emerging technologies, including electrification, hydrogen, and e-Mining applications. You will contribute to innovative, technically feasible solutions in a fast-paced R&D environment where priorities and requirements may evolve rapidly.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive concept development and mechanical design activities for advanced vehicle applications.
- Create 3D models and concept-level drawings using Catia V5.
- Develop and assess design concepts for cooling systems, braking systems, steering systems, and battery installations.
- Support vehicle layout activities and system integration across mechanical subsystems.
- Collaborate closely with R&D, Production, and cross-functional engineering stakeholders.
- Support FEM calculations and design-validation activities to assess and refine mechanical concepts.
- Deliver pragmatic, fit-for-purpose concept solutions within demanding project timelines.
- Contribute to the continuous development and maturation of technical solutions under changing project conditions.
Technical Stack & Requirements
- Strong practical experience with Catia V5, including 3D mechanical design and concept-level drawings.
- Experience with Enovia or a comparable Product Lifecycle Management system.
- Experience designing mechanical solutions for Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV).
- Strong understanding of vehicle layout, mechanical system integration, and concept development.
- Knowledge of Finite Element Method (FEM) calculations for design validation.
- Experience with vehicle cooling, braking, steering, and/or battery-component design is highly advantageous.
Qualifications & Experience
The ideal candidate has at least 7 years of experience in mechanical design or a closely related engineering discipline, with proven expertise in concept development and early-phase engineering. A strong technical foundation, a pragmatic delivery focus, and the ability to work effectively amid uncertainty and evolving requirements are essential. Fluent English is required; Swedish language skills are advantageous.
