Role Summary
An experienced React, Kotlin and AWS Developer & Tech Lead is needed for a consulting assignment within a team building and maintaining a global cloud-based application used by retailers and service organizations. The role combines hands-on software development with technical leadership, helping to evolve the application, maintain a scalable architecture and ensure that engineering practices and technical solutions remain current.
You will share responsibility for multiple micro frontends and microservices that collectively form the application. Working closely with other developers, you will influence technical direction and contribute to reliable, high-performing software in a global production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and continuously improve a cloud-based application used by global retail and service organizations.
- Take shared ownership of React-based micro frontends and Kotlin-based microservices.
- Contribute hands-on to frontend and backend development, maintenance and modernization of the existing software stack.
- Participate in the full application lifecycle, including development, deployment and production operations.
- Guide technical direction, assess solution readiness and communicate technical risks clearly to support sound engineering decisions.
- Support, teach and mentor other developers in a senior technical capacity.
- Improve automation, delivery processes and development practices to enable reliable and frequent releases.
- Help ensure that the platform remains scalable, reliable and high performing.
Technical Stack & Requirements
- Frontend: React-based micro frontend architecture.
- Backend: Kotlin microservices.
- Cloud and orchestration: AWS and Kubernetes.
- CI/CD: GitLab CI pipelines for deployments.
- Integration: Kafka for communication between internal and external services.
- Engineering practices: Event-driven architecture, trunk-based development, continuous deployment, continuous delivery and automation.
Qualifications & Experience
You should have solid previous experience in backend development and be comfortable taking a senior technical role within a delivery team. Frontend development experience, particularly with React, and practical AWS experience are highly relevant. The ideal consultant is accustomed to teams that take end-to-end responsibility for developing, deploying and operating production applications. Strong technical judgement is essential, including the ability to identify when a solution should not be released, explain risks and help the team make well-informed technical decisions. A strong interest in modern software engineering, continuous learning, automation and reliable delivery practices is expected.
