Senior Developers with Test Automation Expertise - 19745

Role Summary

An experienced developer with strong test automation expertise is needed for a consulting assignment in a team enhancing a platform for fund trading and order management across multiple Nordic markets. The role has central responsibility for designing, developing and maintaining high-quality solutions across backend services, integrations and frontend functionality. It combines hands-on software engineering with end-to-end ownership of test automation and quality throughout the development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable backend services, integrations and frontend functionality for a fund trading and order management platform.
• Write clean, maintainable and testable production code using established design principles and patterns.
• Create and maintain automated tests for functional scenarios, regression, integrations, APIs and user interfaces.
• Validate REST APIs, Kafka-based event flows and data integrity across services, messages and databases.
• Develop reusable test automation frameworks, test-data capabilities and reliable automated test execution in CI/CD pipelines.
• Perform focused manual and exploratory testing where automation is not appropriate.
• Analyse test results, troubleshoot defects and contribute to stable, reliable releases.
• Collaborate closely with product management, DevOps and fellow developers to continuously improve development, testing and delivery practices through increased automation.

Technical Stack & Requirements

• Backend: Java 21+, Spring Boot, microservices and distributed backend systems.
• Integration and architecture: REST APIs, Apache Kafka, event-driven architecture, OpenAPI and AsyncAPI specifications.
• Data: Strong SQL skills and experience with Microsoft SQL Server or other relational databases.
• Test automation: JUnit, Cucumber, API testing tools such as REST Assured, and automation of unit, integration and acceptance tests.
• UI testing: Practical experience with Playwright, Selenium or comparable UI test automation tools.
• Delivery tooling: Git, Jenkins and CI/CD pipeline integration for automated testing.
• Advantageous: React, frontend development, Hibernate or comparable persistence frameworks, and reusable cross-project test automation frameworks.

Qualifications & Experience

The ideal candidate has substantial professional experience in Java and Spring Boot development, including the design and implementation of microservices and distributed systems. Strong experience in automated testing alongside production development is required, including asynchronous-flow testing and data validation across services, events and databases. The candidate must be able to plan and conduct structured manual and exploratory testing when needed. Experience in securities funds, investment funds, general finance or cross-border payments is advantageous. Professional English communication skills are required.
